The 1st Projection Biennale, held in Bad Rothenfelde in 2007, was still at the experimental stage. Today, large-scale projections are an enrichment to countless venues and light festivals. It is only at Bad Rothenfelde, however, where every second year the focus remains on projections, and only projections. Only here is a young generation of high-intensity projectors able to display their own new worlds, again and again: projector worlds.
lichtsicht established the medium in a special niche between slides, film, video and digital painting, using all kinds of projection bodies in the spa park and the saline graduation walls, totalling almost a kilometre in length, as the central point.
The event showed overwhelmingly striking images from the realm of “salt”: water, from streams to rivulets, an isolated drop in the battle against evaporation, tiny one-cell organisms enlarged 12,000-fold, insects flying and dust particles traversing a laser beam, fragmentary reminiscences of the biblical history of creation, coloured Morse signals representing data related to the municipality and freely floating dancers in the salt spray room of the salina. The following artists were invited to participate: Gudrun Barenbrock, Harald Fuchs, Andreas Kaufmann, Elisabeth Lumme, Achim Mohné, Ben Patterson and the couple Katarina Veldhues / Gottfried Schumacher.
