From 29 September 2017 through to 28 January 2018, the Projection Biennale will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a “best-of” lichtsicht 1‒5. As such, it will be the sixth time that the spa town of Bad Rothenfelde, located in the triangle between the cities of Osnabrück, Münster and Bielefeld, will bring together international video and media artists to create an event that is unique in terms of innovation, fascination and dimension, an event that has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors in the past. More than fifty high-intensity projectors will project images onto the graduation towers of the historic saltworks, measuring up to eleven metres in height and with a total length of one kilometre. Works that are highly critical of the times, dramatically gripping and thought-provoking will offer a unique review of the young art form “Expanded Projection”, which extends from the graduation towers into the surrounding park, encompassing buildings, water surfaces and fountains.
lichtsicht 6 will showcase some twenty sensational works from the five previous Biennale events. It is the ideal opportunity to rediscover favourite pieces. And those visiting lichtsicht for the first time will be able to become acquainted with highlights from the past ten years. The “best-of” event will give old and new visitors alike the unique opportunity to experience close up the development of “Expanded Projection” ‒ and thus an important piece of visual media history. In 2015, heristo aktiengesellschaft was awarded the Deutscher Kulturförderpreis of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V. (Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries) in the category of Large Companies.
