2nd Projection Biennale
Bad Rothenfelde

In 2009, the 2nd Biennale included more of the surroundings, projected onto the water jet of a fountain and used reflectors that reflected themselves. For the first time, passing panoramas were cast onto the large salina graduation wall over a length of almost 300 metres, and the existing architecture was superimposed by the steering gear of a galley. Narration, reality and illusion alter the relationship between the projection surface and the image.

Connections to the history and geography of the region (Varus Battle in the Teutoburg Forest), visual comments on salt crystals and salt as the primary

substance of life, linked to all four elements, the filmic close-up of scuttling ants on a sawn-off tree trunk and the repeated involvement of the salina graduation scrub with its rough structure were combined in a new direction, a different exploration of the expanding medium of projection.

Participating artists: Luzia-Maria Derks, Ugo Dossi, Mischa Kuball, Marion Niessing, Xavier de Richemont, Katarina Veldhues / Gottfried Schumacher and Claudia Wissmann.
